As a child, my mother used to despair at me spending all my pocket money on small objects – not expensive, but beautiful. I was also interested in people. I wanted to be a psychologist, but I ended up studying business and moving to Germany and then Holland.

One day I found an interior design course based in London and decided to try it. I met an amazing teacher who combined psychology with design. I was hooked. I retrained and started working for many different amazing studios: Harriet Anstruther Studio, StudioRUUF, Ennismore, MBDS, … I learnt something from each of them. And London was full of inspiration, so many different cultures and influences.

During the pandemic, I started designing objects. In a world where housing is so expensive and we live more nomadic lives, it seems to me that objects are a way to make you feel at home, to find beauty that is affordable and transportable. You can’t take a kitchen with you! Objects give you freedom.

I came to Bali after the pandemic. I wanted to work closely with artisans. Living in Bali has awakened my senses to a space’s energy. An interior designer tends to focus on providing a beautiful home or business space for the client, taking into account their aesthetic preferences, functionality and current trends. But that is not all there is. Classical Feng Shui, in which I am a certificated consultant, adds another layer to interior design, connecting it to the energy of the place and the people using it.
